The United States has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the identification or location of Hashim Finyan Rahim al-Saraji, the leader of the Iran-backed militia Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada (KSS).

The reward is being offered through the Rewards for Justice program, run by the U.S. Department of State, which has designated KSS as a terrorist organization.

In a statement shared on X, U.S. officials said that members of KSS have been responsible for killing Iraqi civilians and carrying out attacks against American diplomatic missions in Iraq, as well as targeting U.S. military bases and personnel in both Iraq and Syria.

This move is part of a broader response by the U.S. and Israel to escalating attacks by networks of Iran-aligned militias across the region. These groups have increasingly targeted American, Israeli, and allied interests.

In this intensifying and often covert conflict, Iraq has emerged as a key battleground. Many of these militias recruit primarily from the country’s majority Shia population and are believed to operate under the direction of senior officers from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
