American billionaire Elon Musk has proposed renaming the English Channel, the body of water between France and the United Kingdom, to the “George Washington Canal” in honor of the first American president.
“A new name for the waters separating England and France,” Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter), posting a map image of the strait, where the name Washington can be seen.
The newly inaugurated President of the United States, Donald Trump – a close ally and sponsor of Musk – recently signed a decree ordering the commencement of the “renaming” process of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
