The Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali, today met with the European Parliament’s rapporteur for Albania, Andreas Schieder, at the Assembly’s Presidency.
Spiropali informed Schieder about Albania’s rapid progress toward European Union membership, the successful negotiations on Chapters I and VI, and preparations for opening negotiations on other chapters.
“We are strengthening the leadership of the Assembly in ensuring the democratic legitimacy, inclusiveness, and transparency of the integration process. The national consensus on EU membership is a driving factor for accelerating our pace toward the European family.
Our ambition to join the EU by 2030 is supported by tangible results in advancing reforms, fighting corruption and impunity, strengthening democratic institutions, and ensuring the independence of the judiciary,” Spiropali emphasized.
