European Commission spokesperson Guillaume Mercier called on all political actors in Serbia to refrain from escalating violence and tensions and to engage in constructive dialogue.
In a regular press briefing, Mercier emphasized that he would not comment on the reasons behind the resignation of Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević.
“We will not comment on internal political matters regarding the resignation of the prime minister and potential new elections, as we already stated on Tuesday that we call on all political actors to return to dialogue and refrain from escalating tensions and unrest. They should engage in constructive dialogue, which is very important in the context of the reforms that need to be implemented, but also in terms of the rule of law, human rights, and other aspects. This work needs to be expedited,” said Mercier.
