U.S. President Donald Trump emphasized that any agreement to end the war between Russia and Ukraine must have U.S. approval. He stated that Washington plays a decisive role in the diplomatic process, and without its consent, a final resolution cannot be achieved.
Ahead of his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, scheduled for Sunday in Florida, Trump told Politico:
“He (Zelenskyy) has nothing without my approval.”
Trump also expressed expectations for a constructive discussion and a positive meeting.
He announced that he is pursuing dual-track diplomacy and believes that contacts with Moscow are moving toward a potential resolution. Trump also confirmed that he will meet soon with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On his side, Zelenskyy confirmed that the meeting will focus on a draft plan to end the war, including:
- Security guarantees for Ukraine
- An economic agreement
