Serbian authorities have arrested two Albanian nationals at the Merdare border crossing, on suspicion of attempting to smuggle more than 30 kilograms of cocaine into the country.
The information was officially confirmed by Serbia’s Ministry of Interior (MUP), which stated that the arrests were carried out during a routine border control operation.
According to the authorities, the suspects have been identified by their initials S.L. (born in 2002) and B.U. (born in 2000). Both individuals reportedly declared themselves as citizens of the Republic of Albania.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspects, while the seized narcotics are undergoing further forensic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
Serbian officials have emphasized that the case is being handled in accordance with national legislation and international anti-narcotics protocols, underscoring continued efforts to combat cross-border drug trafficking.
