Overall Progress of the Vote Count
According to the CEC:
- Over 1,900 polling stations have been processed
- Out of a total of 2,557 polling stations nationwide
- Representing more than 74% completion
Once each polling station is fully processed, results are transmitted directly to the CEC’s official results platform.
Temporary Suspension of Counting
Elezi confirmed that the counting process will be temporarily halted at midday today, once all currently opened ballot boxes are finalized.
“After completing the processing of opened ballot boxes, counting will pause and resume on January 1 at 16:00,” he added.
Voting from Abroad
Regarding out-of-country voting, Elezi noted that the Evaluation of postal ballots is ongoing at the Counting and Results Center.
- Approximately 58,000 voters were registered for voting by mail
- More than 28,500 ballot packages have been retrieved so far
- 27,600 ballots approved
- Over 950 ballots rejected
“The most common reason for rejection is the absence of the voter registration confirmation inside the ballot package,” Elezi explained.
He added that the counting of overseas votes will begin later this week, with the exact date and time to be officially announced by the CEC.
