A large-scale fire has engulfed the used-clothing market in the ‘5 Maji’ area of Tirana, with flames reported to be out of control and posing a serious threat to nearby buildings.
Speaking during a live broadcast on Euronews, journalist Thimi Samarxhi described the fire as extremely intense and widespread. According to him, the blaze has spread beyond the market itself, affecting at least one additional building in the immediate vicinity.
Dense Smoke Covers the Area
Samarxhi emphasized that the flames are exceptionally high, generating a thick cloud of smoke that has blanketed the surrounding area. The scale of the fire has raised serious concerns about the safety of neighboring structures, which remain at risk as the blaze continues to spread.
The journalist, who resides near the scene, issued an urgent appeal for aerial firefighting support, calling for the deployment of a helicopter to assist ground units in extinguishing the flames.
Emergency Response Ongoing
Firefighting and emergency services are reportedly engaged on the ground, while authorities continue to assess the situation amid fears of further escalation and potential structural damage.
