Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, has expressed condolences for the victims of the tragic air collision near Washington, D.C., where a plane and a helicopter crashed in mid-air.
In a post on platform X, Osmani emphasized that Kosovo stands with the American people during this difficult time.
“Deeply saddened by the tragic air crash near Washington, D.C., my heart is with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this unimaginable tragedy. Kosovo stands with you in grief and solidarity during this heartbreaking time,” Osmani wrote.
According to available reports, American Eagle Flight 5342, which was coming from Wichita, Kansas, carried 60 passengers and four crew members. The Black Hawk helicopter had three people aboard, confirmed Washington’s mayor, Muriel Bowser.
The plane collided in the air near Washington National Airport and crashed into the Potomac River. Dozens of police officers, ambulances, and rescue teams are at the scene, and the search operation continues.
This incident has shocked the international community, prompting expressions of solidarity from world leaders.
